How to Thank Your Admins

April 24th is Administrative Professionals Day and the perfect opportunity to say thank you to your administrative support team.

We asked administrative professionals in the US, UK and Canada what gift they would most enjoy receiving from their boss on Administrative Professionals Day.

In third place receiving 21% of the vote, a fruit basket such as Edible Arrangements

In second place with 31% of the vote, administrators would appreciate receiving a gift certificate to their favorite restaurant or retail store. For the biggest bang for your buck, try online discounts such as restaurant.com.

And topping our poll with 37% of the vote, administrators most prefer cold, hard cash as a token of appreciation for Administrative Professionals Day. To make the gesture more personal, include a short, hand-written note and mention a particular skill or quality they excel at that contributes to the efficiency of your business.

First established in 1952 by Mary Barret, president of the National Secretaries Association (now known as the International Association of Administrative Professionals, or IAAP), National Secretaries Week was created to recognize “the secretary, upon whose skills, loyalty and efficiency the functions of business and government offices depend,” and to call attention “through favorable publicity, to the tremendous potential of the secretarial career.” To encompass the expanding responsibilities and wide-ranging titles of administrative support staff, the IAAP changed the name in 2000 to Administrative Professionals Week.
